Travis Shaw and a Memorable Chapter of Red Sox Baseball
Travis Shaw began his Major League career with the Boston Red Sox in 2015 after being selected by the organization in the ninth round of the 2011 draft. He appeared in 65 games during his debut season, hitting .270 with 13 home runs and 36 RBI. His first full season followed in 2016, when he played 145 games and produced 16 home runs and 71 RBI while splitting time between first and third base.
Boston was only the opening chapter of Shaw’s Major League story. After the 2016 season, he was traded to Milwaukee, where his offensive production took a significant step forward. In 2017, he hit 31 home runs with 101 RBI and 147 hits, then followed with a career-high 32 home runs and 86 RBI in 2018. Those seasons established Shaw as a productive middle-of-the-order bat beyond his early Red Sox years.
The Travis Shaw T-Shirt gives Boston fans a player-focused way to revisit the beginning of that journey. His time with the Red Sox was relatively brief, but it included the transition from promising rookie to everyday contributor and provided the foundation for the stronger offensive seasons that followed. For supporters who enjoy remembering the players behind different eras of the franchise, Shaw offers a more distinctive story than a conventional long-term team icon.
